I’m Tan and I’m a Psychotherapist and an Expressive Arts Therapy Practitioner.
I came into the field of psychology searching for answers, as most do, and found for myself something profound in the silences that uncertainty can hold, as we embark on this journey of healing and growth.
As a therapist, I see my role as a midwife of individuals’ therapeutic rebirth. I aid, guide and support my clients into a space of safe exploration of their individual goals, while acknowledging the challenges presented to us in this intersectional world.
I work eclectically with individuals and groups, coming from a humanistic, trauma-informed and queer affirmative lens, with expressive arts as a preferred professional modality. As a current trainee of group analysis, my work has started to integrate a psychodynamic backing in its foundation.
Over the last 4 years, my work has focused around childhood trauma, sexual violence, adult neurodivergence, interpersonal relationships and concerns regarding the self, identity, gender and sexuality.
In moments when I de-role from my ‘therapist self’, my life feels focused on teaching, engaging in the arts, wondering what comes next for the world around me, and finding comfort in my cats. My favourite colour is purple and my favourite pastime is catching glimmers in random corners of this world.
